Shape Fish

On the first day of art class, kindergarten students learned about shapes while practicing their fine motor cutting and painting skills. They made sparkly rainbow fish using a paper plate, bleeding tissue paper and glitter.   Check out their beautiful creations below!

Faces of Yowell

During the first week of art class, students created a self portrait using only one color. We talked about how color can effect a person's mood and help to describe our emotions. Check out the beautiful faces of our Yowell students below!! 

Pattern Zebras

Kindergarten students learned about shape, pattern and texture in this lesson.  They also worked on the fine motor skill of cutting and gluing.  Check out their beautiful zebras below! 

Perspective tulip fields

Fifth grade students learned how to show distance in a work of art by creating a perspective drawing. They looked at examples of real tulip fields in the Netherlands to get some ideas.  Students used a horizon line and vanishing point in their one-point perspective drawings to create these beautiful tulip fields.

Owl Babies

Miss. Valentina's class listened to the story "Owl Babies" by Martin Waddell and then created an illustration to go along with the story.  They used tempera paint, colored paper and oil pastels to create their "owl babies" pictures.

Native American weaving

2nd grade students learned about art in Native American cultures.  They drew a Native American inspired  landscape as the background and used yarn to create a tree weaving.  Check out their art below!
